We’ve had a few queries from our customers regarding our designs and especially directed from customers of Dragon Supplies and from the production manager Su Laurence and the owner Gary Day, so therefore we will set some clarification, the webbing we manucture is not a copyrighted design registered or unregistered and there is no recourse to ownership of the way it looks itself.
Dragon Supplies UK Ltd do NOT own the rights whether unregistered or registered to any of the products we have listed.
We have incorporated numerous features into our designs which companies like Dragon Supplies charge extra and we will be pointing these out in features in a forthcoming article but it is important to clarify any misconceptions that Airborne webbing itself has been around for years and from research done by ourselves it can be revealed that in fact Genuine Jay Jays Ltd attempted to register the design itself in 2007 and this was in fact rejected as invalid, so if Dragon Supplies are basically saying the design is of their ownership than that’s basically trying to sell a bridge that doesn’t belong to them ????
Su Lawrence is the Production Manager of Dragon Supplies UK Ltd, according to her owned LinkedIn profile she joined the business in 2014 however articles which are currently retailed were on the market before that date either way, this has been confirmed.
Design samples which Dragon Supplies UK Ltd claim to have had ownership over had already been in circulation from a 3rd party company known as “Pivotal Defence Solutions” which was formed in 2012 under the brand “Pilgrim” which is also a trademark which was registered by Pivotal Defence in 2017.
A legal notice was indeed sent to us via a solicitor acting on behalf of Dragon Supplies UK Ltd alleging claims to “Passing off” and “Infringement of design rights”, Dragon Supplies UK Ltd laid claim to the mark of “Spartan” from 2012 which is the date of which the business known as “Pivotal Defence Solutions” was registerd as a business, there are also copies of the catalogue which was released under the brand of “Pilgrim” advertising the “Spartan Bergen”.
The claims were completely rebutted, and Dragon Supplies UK Ltd basically wasted their money on solicitors fees over nothing claiming ownership over ideas which were not theirs in an attempt to create a “monopoly”.
Dragon Supplies UK Ltd would later go on to register the trademark “Spartan” under the Class of 18 as a rucksack to attempt to cement ownership over the trademark itself despite the fact it had been in circulation with two seperate businesses which was “Pivotal Defence Solutions” and “Pivotal Associates”, and at the same time attempting to register the mark “Airborne Webbing”, a filing was made to quash the attempt to register the trademark registration and was successful on absolute grounds.
With further feedback from our customers after the initial release of our own Airborne Webbing the designs were further revised to add a Commanders Webbing version which would replace the right hand ammo pouch with a Commanders pouch and add extras like PVC lining and storm hoods to the utility pouches as well as a Bowman radio pouch with the advent of the PRC 354 Bowman radio.
Laying design rights to a design which is over 10 years old is basically baseless to say the least and thus Dragon Supplies has no legal recourse to our designs manufactured.
Dragon Supplies also as a business has no recourse to the name “Airborne Webbing” which they attempted to register as a trademark in 2020 in an attempt to monopolise the term, unfortunately this was successfully blocked as highlighted above.
Gary Day, the director of Dragon Supplies UK Ltd was forced with withdrawn his application after evidence of similar usage was successfully supplied to the Intellectual Property Office which is the final authority and has the last word in disputes regarding trademarks, designs whether unregistered or registered and also patents.
It has been revealed to us that Su Lawrence whom is the production manager of Dragon Supplies UK Ltd has been making baseless claims regarding the design and thankfully with the material here we can now make a full clarification on the matter that Dragon Supplies UK Ltd has no legal recourse to the name of Airborne Webbing and nor does it have any legal recourse to the design and look of the overall product itself, or virtually any of their designs.
People generally have been totally satisfied with the end user products we provide including our Airborne Webbing and the proof is in the pudding as they say; we know our products are superior in every way to others on the market.
